Scholar #8 - Congratulations to Shakira Delacruz

It is with great honor to announce our eighth scholar to the scholarship program.

Valedictorian of her graduating class, Shakira Delacruz from Bronx, New York, was presented with a certificate on her graduation day at Lehman College on Saturday, June 27th by our third scholar and current board member, Areta Gjicali.

Shakira's speech about perseverance in the face of adversity and advice to her peers to continue to achieve success was evidence enough that we selected the best candidate for our scholarship this year.  She is one strong and intelligent young lady who is committed to her academic success despite challenges in her own life.

Shakira graduated from the Gateway High School of Environmental and Research Technology and will be attending S.U.N.Y. New Paltz in Fall 2015.

Welcome to our SMBS Family 

June 2015 Soccer games a FUN-Raising Success!!!

Thank you to our friend and newly nominated board member, Kenny Lozano, for organizing two soccer games this past June 2015.  One was on June 13th and the other on June 28th.  The New York City Football Club played against Montreal on the first game and against the Red Bulls on the second.  The energy was amazing and fun to experience live.

We sold twenty tickets on June 13th and on June 28th we sold thirty tickets raising a total of $260 ($230 from ticket sales and $30 from donations) for our organization.
